A Brand New Exciting Event – A Chair Affair!
On June 9, 2018, Grandmothers 4 Grandmothers Regina will be holding ‘A Chair Affair’. This event will feature chairs (and other seats) transformed by professional and amateur artists in the community.
We have the chairs, repairs have been done where needed, and they’ve been primed ready for selection by the artists. Over the next three months, the artists will work their magic.
Please watch this space for updates. Once the chairs have been completed, we will have an on-line catalogue available on our website.
“Powered by Love- A Grandmothers’ Movement to End AIDS in Africa ”
Thanks for coming to another successful event…
All royalties from the sales of Powered by Love will be directed to the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support organizations run by and for African grandmothers who are raising children orphaned by AIDS. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at this event.
A powerful statement about the book, by journalist-social activist Michele Landsberg: ..“We thought we knew what was happening in Africa when the AIDS pandemic raged across the continent, sweeping away 35 million lives. But we never knew it the way this book reveals it, in the shockingly intimate voices of the grandmothers who had to save the abandoned children when no one else was left alive. These voices will leap straight into your heart. Their unguarded faces, in portraits that glow with character, pain and humour, will captivate you.”
Scrabble and More
Scrabble and More was held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at All Saints Anglican Church Parish Hall at 142 Massey Rd, Regina. This year, we had a team playing Cribbage!
A great success once again, it was an afternoon of fun and games. This was our 9th year for the Scrabble event sponsored by Taylor Automotive Group. We raised approximately $9,400 this year to send to the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Thank you to all our game participants and G4G Regina volunteers.
ART from the ATTIC
With great relief and satisfaction, it is a pleasure to bid adieu to AFTA #5 until next autumn (although we will continue to sell art on the SNAC on-line auction this fall and next spring.) It takes a tremendous, collective and collaborative effort to mount this annual fundraiser, however Regina and the surrounding community continue to display solid support of G4G and AFTA as both donors and customers.
Swing into Spring with Rosie & the Riveters was a warm and wonderful evening of marvelous music, fabulous food, friendship and fun. Thank you so much to all who attended and all who generously donated time, talent and goods in support of the event.
